Not so long ago, the company SpaceX, the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, struggled to reach Earth orbit. He hit the target with a Falcon 1 rocket in his fourth attempt, on September 28, 2008. Ten years have passed since the first mission of SpaceX to the International Space Station on May 31 this year.

The next goal of Elon Musk’s company is to provide people with transportation through the reusable spacecraft, Starship, to the moon and Mars.

As the founder and CEO of SpaceX wrote on his Twitter page, his company plans to “build more than 1,000 Starships to transport life to Mars.” Musk also called the device the modern-day “Noah’s Ark.”

With this statement, Elon Musk repeated the information voiced during a recent interview with the head of the non-profit organization TED Chris Anderson. Musk then noted that SpaceX would achieve the above goal by 2050 and be able to send 1 million people to the red planet.

It is noteworthy that NASA, with the help of Elon Musk’s company, plans to send humans to Mars in 2030-2040 and launch a multi-year campaign for scientific research there.

Before completing missions to Mars, Elon Musk’s company will test Starship in Earth orbit. However, permission must be obtained from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). SpaceX hopes to complete the test mission with the device this summer.
