The US President says he fully supports the decision to withdraw US troops from Afghanistan.
“After 20 years, it is clear to me that there is never a good time to withdraw troops. That’s why we’ve been there so far, “said Joe Biden.
The president told a news conference that his country had been abandoned by its own leaders.
“Afghan political leaders have surrendered and fled the country. The Afghan army collapsed, some not even trying to fight. If nothing else, the news of recent weeks has shown us that ending the US military presence in Afghanistan was a good decision.
“American troops cannot and should not fight and die in a war that Afghan forces do not want to fight for themselves,” Biden said.
Recall, the group “Taliban” occupied the capital of Afghanistan and announced the establishment of the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan” in the country. The country’s president, Ashraf Ghani, has decided to step down and leave Afghanistan.
